We had a superb afternoon in November when two of our members displayed. Graham Stockdale was first to display on the theme of ‘Famous People in British History’ mainly people from the Victorian era. Graham showed us signed covers with accompanied letters featuring Queen Victoria, Benjamin Disraeli, Robert Peel, Charles Dickens, Robert Louis Stevenson, Sir Rowland Hill, William Mulready and many others.
Next up was Steve Paice with the first issue of Australian stamps. Steve went through the history and the production of the stamps in 1913 and its various manifestations until 1938 including the different flaws, perforations, dies and plate proofs.
